Build a Bot STEM Event

BOTS FOR THE BATTLE: Building Bots. Inspiring Minds. Making a Difference!

On October 22, 2026, Women in Defense (WID) Central Florida proudly sponsored Bots for the Battle Against Breast Cancer, an exciting hands-on Build-A-Bot STEM event hosted in partnership with the National Center for Simulation (NCS) and Central Florida DoD STARBASE in Orlando.

This special evening brought together technology, creativity, STEM education, and breast cancer awareness, demonstrating how innovation and community can make a meaningful difference. Through hands-on robotics experiences, participants explored the exciting possibilities of STEM while connecting with others who share a passion for education, innovation, and giving back. Best of all, proceeds from the event will support STEM scholarships, helping inspire and empower the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders!

A heartfelt thank-you to our incredible hosts, partners, participants, and supporters for making this event possible. Together, we’re building more than robots, we’re building opportunities, strengthening our community, and supporting a cause that touches so many lives.

Thank you, NCS and the Starbase team for hosting the event Lindsey Spalding, Abbie Easter, Valerie M Aviles, Dariya Bagley, and Photographer Fanta Jalloh. Special thanks to Karen Patti, MS, SLP of the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation for supporting this event and Cheryl Outlin for leading a heart-felt and insightful session with the attendees.
