ORLANDO, Fla. — October 13, 2026 — Women In Defense (WID) Central Florida has earned national recognition in the 2026 WID Chapter Championship Challenge, placing among the top chapters nationwide in both the Individual Member and Government Member categories.
WID Central Florida tied for Third Place in Individual Membership Growth, welcoming five new individual members during the challenge. The chapter also earned Third Place in Government Membership Growth, adding four new government members.
The dual recognition reflects WID Central Florida’s continued efforts to expand its community and connect professionals across defense, national security, government, industry, academia, and related fields throughout the Central Florida region.
“This recognition represents much more than membership numbers, it reflects the strength of the community we are building in Central Florida,” said Kristi Evans, WID Central Florida President. “Every new member brings new experiences, perspectives, and opportunities to connect, learn, mentor, and contribute. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and to our members and volunteers who continue to share the WID mission throughout our defense community.”
Central Florida Recognized in Two National Categories
The 2026 Chapter Championship Challenge recognized chapters demonstrating success in expanding both individual and government participation.
WID Individual Members:
- First Place: WID Tennessee Valley – 32 individual members (27 individual + 5 student)
- Second Place (Tie): WID San Diego & WID Space Coast – 7 individual members each
- Third Place (Tie): WID Central Florida and WID Greater Boston – 5 individual members each
WID Government Members:
- First Place: WID Tennessee Valley – 29 government members
- Second Place: WID San Diego – 7 government members
- Third Place: WID Central Florida – 4 government members
Additional Recognition:
- WID Greater Hampton Roads – 3 individual members
- WID Michigan – 2 individual members & 2 government members
- WID Greater Tampa Bay – 2 individual members
- WID Greater Los Angeles – 2 individual members
- WID Space Coast – 2 government members
- WID Lone Star – 1 government member
